Today I received some comments about yesterday's photo and decided to try and improve the shot by adding a different background and some drinking water. This was taken at 1/400 sec. , f1.4, and an ISO of 800.

I took this photo with my 50mm f1.4 lens. The camera was set on ISO 400, f1.4, 1/320 sec. and the white balance was on cloudy. I was about 5' from the subject.

I went to Miami Beach today and took these photos. The first photo is Mr. Clucky. The next three photos were along Lincoln Rd. and the last photo is at the Holocaust Memorial.

I took these photos in Naples. The weather was not good so the pelicans were huddled down.

Last night I went to take sunset photos at my favorite spot and noticed that there were lobsters walking around in 6" of water right next to the shore.

I guess these photos have created a lot of interest. The top photo is mom, me sleeping, and mom holding me with her arm wrapped around Bill, taken in 1962. I pulled out the bottom photos and looked on the back to see if there were any clues. The photo on Santa's lap is marked 1966. The photo of the girl standing is marked Chic, 1910 or 12. The photo sitting on the steps only has every one's names written on the back. I have no clue where the photo was taken but I would have to guess it was Christmas 1964.

I spoke with my mother and she has confirmed some more information about these photos. The upper photo is of me, I was 10 days old and the photo was taken the day I was released from the hospital. The photo of my mother with me in her lap and her arm wrapped around Bill was taken when I got home from the hospital and it was taken at Chic's house on Northpark. Not sure if it was taken in the living room or up stairs in the bedroom. The photo on Santa's lap was taken at Higbee's in downtown Cleveland. The photo sitting on the steps was taken at Chic's home on Fairhill. When she moved from there the bird cage went to Debbie and George's on Northpark and was on the stairwell landing. The photo was taken at Christmas 1964.

To set up this shot I used a black backdrop and the camera was on a tripod. I used my new SB600 flash and set it up as a remote flash placed about 2 feet to the left. I used my 18 - 70mm lens and it was set at 48mm, 1/200sec., f4.5. In Photoshop I cropped the photo and lightened the shadows slightly.

Yesterday was my first attempt at taking photos of smoke. I was not completely happy with the outcome so today I took the shots again with some changes. I changed my source of smoke, changed my lighting, and I also did some adjustments in Photoshop. In Photoshop I did some of my normal adjustments, I cropped the photos then adjusted the lighting. Then in today's photos I also reversed the colors. What was black is now white and what is now black was white.

These photos are from the Bon Festival at the Morikami Museum in Delray Beach. The festival is to honor your ancestors. They light candles and float them out on the lake and then follow that with fireworks.

This is another painting with light photo. The decanters were partally filled with water and food coloring. I then placed black paper on top of a glass table. I placed the decanters over holes in the paper. The camera was set up on a tripod. I set the f stop to f11 and the shutter speed was set to 30 seconds. I then used a flash light to shine up from under the table through the holes in the paper and into the decanters.
